This might just be one of the best books I've had the pleasure of reading. The story follows two characters, Emma and Dexter, who after meeting on the night of their graduation form a friendship that changes their lives forever. The story charts their lives from the night they first meet through their early twenties and far beyond and wonderfully captures the many ups and downs they each experience. There are so many reasons to love this book but I guess the main one for me would be that it captures that moment in your life when you've finished college look back and wonder where the time went, look to the future and find yourself uncertain of where you're going. The characters in this novel figure it out, and as you take the journey with them you'll experience the emotions of two people destined to be together no matter the odds. It's a story about youth, friendship, growing up and growing old and left me with the feeling of having gained two new friends after I put the book down. It's one of the few books I've ever read which consistently held me engrossed and the story goes from strength to strength with every chapter. I really can't recommend this enough, heartbreaking and heart-warming it's become one of my all time favourite stories.
"Cherish your friends, stay true to your principles, live passionately and fully and well. Experience new things. Love and be loved, if you ever get the chance" - David Nicholls
